I get a chance to take a closer look at some of CrossFit Trafford's competitive members who are looking to refine their strength, skills and technique efficiency with one eye on the comps they like to do to test their CrossFit.
In this clip we'd been working Max power snatch for the day. Made progress on elements I wanted to see regarding his starting position. Rob's back position was being effected by a classic stance. It was excessively rounding. We made a tweak to improve that starting position to make it more comfortable for him and to be in a stronger safer position for his lifts. Also made progress on his full extension. We can see there's some ongoing refinements to work on with Rob in his arm bend and excessive feet movement (donkey kick).
With Olympic Weightlifting there are many refinements we can make but it's often over time to avoid changing too much at once. Treating the biggest problems first is what I look to do in my coaching using CrossFit's triage concept.
We then went on to take some weight off and work the movement for reps in a short couplet (two movements) of power snatch and a Chest To Bar Chin Up (a progression towards more technical gymnastic pulling strength movements).
